Within this hackathon-like competition, teams of students were assigned to solve a real-world blockchain-related business case of renowned companies. After an extremely successful launch in 2018, the Blockchain Challenge took place annually until 2023.

On 23 Mai 2019, the University of Basel hosted the second Blockchain Symposium, which this year focused primarily on professionalization and decentralization and also dealt with legal issues and challenges in the blockchain sector.
