Prof. Dr. Georg von Schnurbein
Prof. Dr. Georg von Schnurbein is Associate Professor of foundation management and director of the Center for Philanthropy Studies (CEPS) of the University of Basel. The Center was initiated by SwissFoundations, the Association of Swiss Grandmaking Foundations.
From 2001 to 2007, Georg von Schnurbein was a researcher and PhD-student at the Verbands-Management Institut (VMI) of the University of Fribourg/CH. Among his responsibilities were the coordination of the Swiss country reports for “Visions and Roles of Foundations in Europe” and the “Johns Hopkins Comparative Nonprofit Sector Project”. His theses analyzed the governance of trade associations and unions.
Georg von Schnurbein holds a master's degree in Business Administration of the University of Fribourg/CH. Besides, he has studied political science at the University of Berne. He is the author of various publications on subjects such as foundations, governance, and nonprofit management and marketing.
