"Relaxed Antitrust Enforcement in the U.S.?"

Zoom-Livestream with Prof. Jeffrey Macher, Georgetown University

Public Event Zoom-Livestream Summer School in Law, Business & Economic Policy

There is an increasing narrative in the popular press and among some academics that antitrust regulators have systematically relaxed existing antitrust law enforcement. This talk challenges this view based on new theoretical and empirical research by the author using U.S. data from 1979 to 2017.

This is the 2021 Public Event of the Summer School in Law, Business & Economic Policy at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Basel. Jeffrey Macher is Professor of Strategy, Economics and Public Policy at Georgetown University. His research concentrates on the economics of technology and innovation, industry structure and competitive strategy. He offers courses in microeconomics, competitive strategy, and the management of technology and innovation. He also is an academic director of Georgetown's Center for Business and Public Policy. At the Faculty of Business and Economics, he teaches the Master's course “Competitive Strategy” from June 28 to July 8 which is part of the Summer School Programme of 2021.
