We explore and teach how to deal with economic and social issues based on a constitutional economic understanding of political economy. In doing so, we provide new insights that incorporate a behavioral economic perspective and emphasize the great potential of a comparative institutional analysis of human well-being.
We cultivate scientific exchange in a strong research group in order to enable young researchers to undertake innovative problem-oriented research. In addition, we strive for a continuation and constant renewal of the Basel tradition in Political Economy. Our efforts are aimed at the development of a politico-economic research profile as well as the reinforcement of the existing Master programs, in particular the focus "Markets and Public Policy".
