A growing literature has documented the high global morbidity, mortality and mental health burden associated with the current Covid-19 pandemic. In this paper, GÜNTHER FINK, FABRIZIO TEDIOSIA and STEFAN FELDER aimed to quantify the total utility and quality of life loss resulting from Covid-19-related government restrictions imposed at the national, regional and global levels.

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented social, economic and health systems disruptions globally. According to the latest estimates, 20.5 million years of life have been lost to Covid-19 to date,1 and millions of new cases continue to be recorded each week despite the rollout of vaccines in many countries and the continued use of masks as well as other preventive measures in most settings.
