About Us
The Department of Energy Economics is concerned with applied questions of the current energy debate. One focus is the analysis of the Swiss and European electricity market. Methodologically, we focus on applied microeconomics, especially on empirical research using numerical market models.
The energy economics team is closely integrated into the interdisciplinary research focusing on sustainability and energy research at the University of Basel within the framework of the Forschungsstelle für Nachhaltige Energie- und Wasserversorgung (FoNEW) and from 2015 to 2020 part of the Switzerland-wide Competence Center for Research in Energy, Society and Transition (SCCER CREST).
Today, we are part of the Research Network Sustainable Future where we contribute with our research in the fields of Energy and Climate.
